Yes.

No. (well, you'll probably get a .0001% increase in hp.)

You'll have to plug off the air cleaner vacuum line on the '73 carb, and your cold-weather driveability may suffer some, depending on what kind of climate you live in.

And no, there wouldn't be a difference (improvement) in power.

i live in California so i't mostly warm at here year round.

another thing i was wondering about was on a 60's ir cleaner not sure what year for to be exact. On the bottom plate it had a vaccum line running form the exuhaust manifold to the air cleaner. so any one know the deal with that. I didnt get that one was just wondering about it.

I love them juck yard. just like a truasure hunt you never know what you can dig up.

That would be a '69, with the one-year-only* carburetor anti-ice system. It channels air from the clean side of the air filter, via a rubber hose, through a steel tube that passes through the #2 runner of the exhaust manifold, to a fitting at the base of the carb. This feeds heated air to the underside of the throttle plate to prevent ice-up. It's largely unneeded with today's fuel formulations and tends to make hot-weather problems (carb boiling). The '70 introduction of the thermostatic air cleaner was a much, much better solution.

* - This system was available in Canada from '61-'69, but was only used in the US in '69.

Flip your air cleaner lid upside down.

All that does is make more noise.

Those tiny little open element air filters clog up very quickly, due to their small size. Open element filters are not a very wise choice either. You'e best bet is to rig up some sort of cold air intake system.

Hey Dennis, that big Newp has 2.76 gears  :!:

and what is BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :?:

Lotsa big-block C-bodies do, that's how them big ol' battlestars reach light-speed so easily :D I'm leaving the 2.76's in my '66 Polara when the new 440 goes in... until I save up enough for a gear-vendors overdrive anyway :-)

The sound of the secondaries opening up when you floor a big-block with a Thermoquad! Dennis said AVS, but compared to a TQ an AVS is "bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!! " at best! :P
