My Car: 70 Dart Custom w/ 225 Slant Six

My problem:

I'll be driving and then all of the sudden the car will shut down as if I've turned the ignition off. It has to be an ignition thing because it shuts down the accessories as well, but the power to lights and such is still good.

What could do that? What can be replaced?

Thanks in advance.

-Casey

A problem like this is down to a faulty ignition switch or faulty wiring. Note that "wiring" includes the connectors, terminals and junctions where wires connect to one another and to switches and other electrical devices. How to diagnose the problem most efficiently depends on your level of electrical skill and whether you own a voltmeter or test light.

Check the bulkhead connector at the firewall. Unplug it and see if anything is fried or not making contact. My ignition switch wireing was fried also , causing the exposed fried wire to arc to the dash causing your condition.
