I wouldn't run a straight pipe, nor a glass pack unless you want to be dronned out of the car at freeway speeds. I had one on my Satellite...lets just say it lasted about a month of 80 mile round trips daily before I got a turbo muffler (from a localy owned muffler shop, I think its a Walker). Keep in mind its a better insulated car than an A body, so you know its bad! Get at least a 2" pipe manifold to bumper. Most here prefer a 2.25".

I need to say, you can use a Ichibahn exahust tip! they make a very good sound/loudness and give a more sport aspect.

yeah, ive heard those exhaust tip mufflers. they tend to be trendy with the rice burners, with chrome gas tank doors. makes a car sound like a herd of west nile mosquitos going down the road. would appreciate more of a throaty rumble. and not like a 5.0 mustang too big a pipe for too little motor rumble either. expecting too much?

A near-stock /6 isn't ever going to make much of a "throaty rumble". I have a cheese-bake glasspack on my Kermit which is otherwise stock, and it's not objectionable. Sounds kinda cool, actually, maybe "sporty" is the right descriptor. Definitely not objectionably loud. Just drowns out most of the squeaks, rattles, clunks and ticks.

A straight 2-1/4" with a glasspack was on my valiant when I got it.
It wasn´t too bad...
I had to take it off, as it went under the rearend. That is a real straight pipe!
Sound was ok...
It was nice and rumbly at idle and low load conditions, but it was awful at full throttle!
Now I have a 2-1/2" with a stock type muffler. Much better :D
And it makes the walls shake when you hit the throttle!!! :D :D :D

bite the bullet and spend the 90 bucks to get a flowmaster. it's well worth it, in my opinion. the 40 series i put on my otherwise stock slant sounded great. not nearly as loud as a glasspack but plenty loud enough for most people.

Why I will be kidding? that bullet really makes a very good job, people thinks that I got under the hood a 360 engine.

I will try to record the sound that makes, also I need to say that I got the noise under control by a valve under the car.

I had a cherry bomb on my car last year. It wasn't the narrow kind, it was pretty much a glasspack. Due to time constraints, the muffler was connected where the cat converter should have been and no tail pipe. I think the echo between the road and the floorboards got extreme at about 35 mph at anything other than light throttle.

It sounded really cool in the driveway and at the track, but was -WAY TOO LOUD! WHAT DID YOU SAY? I "SAID" IT'S WAY TOO LOUD!-
 It was far too loud to drive around with my wife and son in the car even for short trips around town.

The new full 2.5" exhaust system with 'turbo' muffler sounded good to me, but my wife thinks it is still a little noisy. We both agree that it is much better than before, but I think it's just about right.

Get the pipe outside the car´s body.
It will be more noisy if it ends under it...
Or go the other way if you want to.
All the bends over the rearend seems to quiet it down a bit too
