Whats the difference between the 84-85 2.2 turbo piston and the later 86-90 piston? They both seem to have a 1.573" compression height. Are the pin hole heights or pin sizes different? Would either work in a 225 long rod /6? |

On the Silvolite pistons I have used, piston material, piston dish size and pressed vs a floating piston pin were the differences. The turbo piston is the better unit but the bigger dish yields lower compression and should be set-up as a floating pin. More info and photos in the Stroking article. DD |

Thanks Doc! The one's I'm thinking of are the Fed Mogul #532-P dish and the Fed Mogul #533-P circular dish with 2 reliefs. As far as I can tell these are the cast turbo pistons supplied to Chrysler by Mogul. |
