Post subject: | head shaving ... how do I tell |
I have a head I am building for my 81 D100 As best as I can tell this truck was a patch totogeatherhen I got it. It has a 5 freeze plug forged crank block (tapered water pump rib) with a super six setup on it. It currently has a "peanut plug" head and a points dist. Defedefenitly original. Any way I have a "tube" head that I have had laying around and is there some way to measure it to see if it has ever been shaved? I was thinking maybe measure from the valve cover mating surface to the head surface. The chambers dont loodon'tke they have ever been touched, but arent quiaren'tund either. Oh the joy of figuring out what the previous owners have done. by the way the casting # on the head is 2206035-4 if that matters. Thanks |

I wouldn´t count on every head being the same height from the factory, so I guess you have to cc. the chambers, and see what compression you get... |

Post subject: | head cc and valve springs |
I know it is probably here somewhere but I could not find it. What should an uncut stock head cc at. also what should the installed valve springs height be and how many pounds should they be at that height. the reason I am worried about the valve springs is the engine this head came off of had a rod through the side so Im sure it was twisted hard. by the way all of the springs are green, did dodge ever do that? anybody know about intake valves having 3 grooves and exh only having 2 grooves? it really has been to long since I have messed with a slant but now I have a few ![]() thanks for any light anyone can shed on this |

The chamber cc......Depends... You have to measure them... The spring installed height should be 1-11/16" OR 1-21/32" depending on the year... The green springs are probably stock... The 3/2 groove valves are normal... |
