Post subject:  anyone change a wormshaft seal on power steer box
My worm shaft seal on power steering box a little leaky.
This is seal around shaft that goes into steering wheel column.
I was thinking of using a angle pick tool to pry it out but not
sure how hard that seal is mounted in the box.

When you find out, let me know. I need to do the same thing. That's about the only thing leaking on our total rebuild of my son's '74 Dart Sport. Well, the oil pan drain plug is slightly stripped, so it has a tiny dribble, but that's easy enough to fix. :roll:

Hey Dan (or anyone with a part number book), I tracked down a part number (J8130157) for the "Seal Package Input Shaft Saginaw Steering Box". Is this a valid part number for the seal we are talking about here?
Looks maybe like a number superceded to a Jeep part number.

Did you ever get your seal replaced? Where did you get the seal, was it difficult to do with the gearbox still in the car, and did it fix the leak?

I still need to fix mine,

no, did not try to replace it yet. there is another post on brake, suspension
section forum called "leaking steering now what" that guy has an extra
gear box and he said he will try to remove seal on that one to find out
what works.
also i am still waiting for my seal on back order from napa.
