Bit the bullet and ordered a real honest to goodness nitrous converter. 8", billet bling bling, nitrous sprag, 4000 stall, yaddah yaddah.....................

New trans and converter are in. I will go to RT66 tomorrow and Sunday for points races. Good a time as any to try out new parts, huh?

Showed the new converter to my trans guy Sunday. He thought it was a great looking piece.

Trans is another 727specialists 904 with V-8 guts, but this one has a Griner low band apply reverse manual valve body instead of my tried and true Cheetah.

Results to follow. :shock:

Results are mixed so far. Weather was a lot worse today than last time we ran in June. 60' was off .04-.05 in time runs, but it did pick up a couple hun in Rd 1. I went .003 on the tree, 1.72 60', 7:92@84 in the 1/8th, and a 12:62@104 in the 1/4. I was dialed 12:59 and the RT got me the bye in the 2nd round.

I changed bottles for the 2nd round, and when I got paired up with the last car my nitrous gauge was pegged at 1500 psi. I managed to purge it down to 1050, but when I left the line I knew I was in trouble. The thing hiked the left front, and I shot past my opponent by the 100' mark. (She was dialed 12:80) I shut the spray off at 1000', hit the brakes at 1200', and still ran 12:54 at only 94mph. It went 1.67 60', and 7:83@85 1/8th.

I don't have time to get my bottles refilled tonight, so tomorrow I will run on moder to see if the thing is any better or not. :shock:

I wonder how he did against Rodney at Wilkesboro?

Do you think there's any merit to my suspiscion that Ron might be building that Rampage? Did you look very closely at the photos in #38?

So, is there anything to that statement about "old men on nitrous" comparing it to viagra? Now that your bottles are empty, are you done? :lol:

Am I done? Of course not. I will still be racing today, just not as fast. :lol:

I talked to Mike last night. The 1/8th mile time on my last run equated to a 12:43. I still only have a 3.55 gear in the car.

The fact that an extra 100 psi bottle pressure picked the car up that much shows that I still have the nitrous system too rich on fuel. I think that with some actual tuning on the system itself and my 3.91's back in the car, my goal of getting into the 11's may be reached later this year. :shock:

Just remember Rob, when Tom's turbo turd was eating itself on every pass he wasn't so mouthy. They have enough $$$$ in that thing to build 3 joos cars. :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :shock:

Wellllll, I'm still not impressed with the way it was running on moder today, but it was not doing too bad for the conditions. I did finally manage a 15:13@89. It probably doesn't help much that the tank is carrying 114 leaded race gas either. That is a touch slow burning for moder only.

Weather was once again in the low 90's and humidity was in the low 40's. I got the 2nd round bye again with a .001 in the first round and a 15:26 on a 15:25 dial.

I actually got the bye this time and went .035 and the 15:13. I dialed 13 for the 3rd round and went .010 red for my buddy John Crawford. He was .124 and .02 under. :cry:

For the time being I'm not painting the Jawjuh flag on it. Ity will stay in the garage for a while.

Last race at 66 is the 20th, and you damn well best believe that I will have 2 full bottles on board. :shock:

15.26 - 12.43 = 2.83 improvement with joos! :shock:

Joos is definitely enticing, but it still scares me!

You're right about the Simca. It aint no shade tree job!

For my purposes at this point I need a car that is simple, safe, consistent, and low maintenance since I'm using it to learn and teach the youngsters about racing.

Maybe someday I'll be in the Wooly Booger, Cutting-Edge, Let's see if it holds together if we do THIS category. But I think that's a long ways off for this shade tree dude. :lol:

11's with a Slant 6 "Street" Car sure does sound good though.

I don't want to be slow or stock! ( I won a few trophy dashes with my '72 Dart that way in Phoenix)

I want to be simple, safe, consistent, low maintenance and at least relatively fast. Other folks are doin' it, so that's what I want to do.

For now I'll leave the "Blowin'", "Suckin'" and "Joosin'" to all you perfeshnuls! :lol:
