Per NLM's request, here are some photos of my '62 Lancer engine. It's not a show-quality engine compartment right now. •Reddish stain on the radiator bracket isn't rust; it's a lasting reminder of how using Dex-Cool in a system not designed for it causes heartache and expense. •Heater box is removed for repair work. Dex-Cool ate the heater core, too. •We see the pump-to-carb fuel line mod I'm always yammering about •Silly '62 horn locations. The '61 spot, down in the front valence, was much more thoughtful. Eventually these will move. •old Stant SO-61 oil cap. •'67-up style A/C filter-dryer mounted on the RH inner fender. Eventually this will move to the front face of the radiator support panel. •External condenser added between the alternator output stud and ground, to reduce alternator noise and light flickering. •pre-'71 V8 BBD carburetor with evidence of an old fuel seepage issue, since fixed. •New clutch assembly on old A/C compressor. The large-diameter \6 clutches are getting tough to find, but there's a guy on eBay who sells them. •Super-6 choke thermostat without the heater wire hooked up. This is halfåssed and will change when I get the time. •MP restoration '70-up voltage regulator next to an MP orange box that hasn't failed...yet. •Late-type master cylinder removed a few hours after this photo was taken; '70 A-body master swapped on to correct pedal height issue. •Gates 20450 top radiator hose for '61-'62 A-bodies with 225 engine. •'62 Mopar "Jiffy Jet" windshield washer bag (w/later hoses...) •Whitaker large-gauge battery cables (will probably go away now that Atlas has nice new correct factory-style ones with 90° flag terminals) •Not shown: constant air cleaner hassles! Trying to find a reasonably factory-type unit that simultaneously clears the nearby A/C compressor and clears the closed hood has been a real headache. •MP M1 aluminum 2bbl intake manifold w/EGR blockoff plate •silly flared-copper A/C high pressure line (will go away at next A/C overhaul) •2-1/4" exhaust headpipe (not very well done) |

Thanks Dan! That will be quite helpful as I embark on the removal of my 170 on Tuesday and put in the 225. I'll pick your brain about a few things a bit later. Today, its all tranny questions I have. |
