so new 9" drums, shoes, hardware, rebuilt Master C. , and rubber hoses how is the pedal suppose to feel after a rebuild? mines returns slowly, like if the cylinders are pushing the pedal back out, is this right? or am i in deep doo doo..??? the car stops really good, feels nice and tight, just that the pedal returns slowly, is this a cause for worry? |

There should be a coil return spring around the brake pushrod. My original had disintegrated, and I made a new one with piano wire |

The return spring doesn't do anything other then protect the rubber boot. I would check the adjustment of the individual brakes and then bleed the lines. A slow return of the brake pedal could also mean a bad master cylinder. A common problem with the 9" brakes. |

Could also have problematic residual-pressure valve(s) in the master cylinder. What year car is this? |

Make sure that all of the pads are adjusted so there is no too much travel before the shoes contact the drums. |
