I was sitting behind a CJ-7 at a redlight today and I noticed that it had 30 inch Thornburgs but under the rear was a 7 1/4! I did not know that these things could survive under a Jeep. Was this a 7 1/4 or a look-alike. It had a Chrome diff cover 8) on the back also.

I think there are a few Dana axles used on Jeeps with a rear cover that looks a lot like the 7 1/4" - the D44 and the D60.

Those danas would look like two 7 1/4 in one, they are huge when you compare them side by side...
Could it be the amc model 20? I don´t remember how they look, but they are small, and used in jeeps :?:

I could of been a Dana 35, which has a similar shape as the 7 1/4". The AMC 20 housing is round. But since this is a Jeep, that has been modified, who knows what axle it was really running.

Hmmm, has anybody ever slid a Dana 35 under an A-body Mopar. Sounds like it would be a good combo.
