is any special tools required for adjusting the float? |

Proper float gauge for whatever carb type you're working with is a big help. You can use a regular machinist's scale, but it's considerably trickier. |

There is a small tang on the float arm that closes the needle valve when the float is raised up. Bend the tang toward the float to raise the float level, toward the needle valve to lower. You can adjust with small needle nose pliers. Do not put pressure on the needle valve. The top of the float should be parallel to the opening of the carburetor body. I set mine a little lower to keep fuel from dripping out of the vent when its hot. |

im fairly new to this, but i can figure it out. can you provide a pic? if not, im not worried, it shouldnt be a problem. But thanks anyways!

It's my understanding that the purpose of the float is to keep to the fuel bowl from overflowing - like the float in a toilet tank shuts off the water supply when it's full.Steve G. |
