if I have a 64 Dart what is the range of ears that I can interchange the dash with? Eventually I want to do something custom but for now I want a decent looking one...by chance does anyone have one?

When you say "dash", do you mean the entire metal dashboard that goes clear across from the left to the right side of the car, and incorporates the heat/defog controls, the glovebox and the instrument cluster? Or just the instrument cluster itself?

'63-'64 Dart dashboard assemblies are nearly identical. Difference is that the '63 has the heat/defog control knobs in a cheesy plastic housing screwed to the bottom of the dash, while those same knobs are integrated into the dashboard, in the space above the radio.

'63-'64 Dart instrument clusters are cosmetically identical and all parts interchange, but you have to watch out for the difference between '63 and '64 temperature gauges and senders—just make sure if you wind up with a '63 temperature gauge you use a '60-'63 temp sender, and if you wind up with a '64 temperature gauge you use a '64-up temp sender.

As far as fitment interchangeability, all '63-'66 A-body dashboards can be installed.

I am getting ready to swap the entire metal dash out of my 65 Dart wagon for a 66 Barracuda Dash, since the 66 instrument cluster IMHO looks better plus has the added benefit of having an oil pressure gauge which all the others in the 63-66 range do not have. The stock 66 Barracuda instrument cluster has the "Performance Meter" aka vacuum gauge, which can be quite usefull. I've obtained a Formula S speedo (150 MPH) and factory tach to replace the vacuum gauge. One item to note - the windshield must be removed to do this swap.

ok... I don't really know what I need. I know I need a new dash pad but the top of the dash, where the speaker is and the vents come out, is also in rough condition and I would like to replace it as well. The instrumental part of the dash is OK  although I cant figure out why the gas gauge doesn't work...
