Spring in the master cylinder is getting weak and/or the cylinder bore is rough and crusty with rust and the piston is worn, so it cocks anglewise and hangs up instead of returning smoothly.

If you're not looking to upgrade, just to fix, send me a PM. I have a brand new (not rebuilt) master cylinder for your car. I bought it because I needed the pushrod and retainer only; your existing pushrod and retainer will swap right on.

Thanks for the reply Dan. I will replace it, a rebuilt is $27 at Checker.
