Help!! I have a problem with the rear main seal in my demon. The seal in the engine kit fits very easily into the block , it can pushed around with my thumb. The rear main leaks very badly. The kit is for 1962-80 225. Today I ordered a seal for a 1981 slant 6 it is a different part number than the other. The stamped numbers on the block are 9 225 r6 12 2e and the castings on the block are f 530-12 15 12. I took the engine out of a 79 Aspen iI thought it was original but perhaps not. Any advice would be appreciated I miss cruising my Demon |

You are on the right track, try another seal, a Fel-Pro or other brand name. If that seal is also loose, go find an old stock rope type seal and use that. Be sure to "pack" the rope seal into the groove and trim away any excess at the parting line. DD |
