| Post subject: | Radiator Ideas |
Hi Everyone, Time to replace my radiator in my 68 Dart 270 (Slant Six). Original is a two core, narrow unit with the extension bracket to get it out to the full 24" mounting width. I intend to modify the 225 fairly extensively, and do some towing. Anyone have suggestions on what I should put in for a new radiator? Thanks - Mac |

If you have a way to get it in Maryland, I have a 22" radiator out of a late Dart,(Ithink 73) that you can have. It is fairly new. I had to add a bracket to the side of the radiator to make it fit, but the bracket is on, and works fine. it also sits up a little higher than the stock '68, but again, it fits OK. I had it on my '69 for a few years before converting to turbo, and needed a bigger radiator for that. Send me an e-mail. I am gone for about 4 days, so I will get back to you when I return. |

I put an aluminum Afco (www.afcoracing.com) universal radiator ($180+ship) in my 66 Valiant and the installation was pretty easy. You'd need a straight out waterneck out of a late SB V8 (91 318 Van, for example), some universal type hoses. This will cool better than any factory type you can find, new or old. That said, Vader's might be a great deal for ya. Just another thought, Lou |

Lou, Dartvader- Thanks very much (especially for your offer, Dartvader). I soldered up the leak, then replaced my 4 blade fan with a 6 blade flexfan. The extra blades make up for tired radiator at this point. Maryland is a fair distance, I think I'll hold and see what turns up at Carlisle. I like the idea of the aluminum replacement. Thanks again! -Mac |

The radiator in my 76 Valiant is on its way out. The top tank is getting pourous, starting to "sweat" antifreeze. Guy at the local parts store said it's about 250 for a new one....lol. Nothing good at the junkyard, I might try one available from JC Whitney. |

Go to the local radiator shop, the one where all they do is radiators. My 2 row was made into a 3 row high efficiency. I have absolutely no cooling issues and it cost me $220 with a flush of my block. That is LA prices which are always 20% higher IMHO. I highlly reccomend this for anybody considering a new radiator. |
