I was curious what the differences are between the "blue cr3" and the "
orange 403" torque convertors. The norm for the 60-63 904 trans based
on the few cars I dissassembled was to find a 10.75 diameter torque
converter painted orange and on the back would be stamped "403".
The 65 trans I am playing with right now had a torque converter that
was painted blue and the stamping on the reverse is "CR3".

Anyone know the difference?

When you find a blue torque converter behind a pre-'68 engine, it's a fairly reliable indication it's a "reman" unit.
