Post subject:  2005 Slant Six Racing Points - Current

Here are the points after the last race. Seymour ask me to post them so everyone could keep up.

1 - Rodney Hargis 134
2 - Ron Parker 84
3 - Norman Foster 74
4 - Barry Harrison 53
5 - Gary Bruner 32
6 - Aric Erickson (R) 31
Darin Alumbaugh 31
Paul Moran (R) 31
9 - Ron Hamby 23
- Dale Rose 23

The following driver are within one round win of 10th place: Lou Madsen, Mike Jeffery, Mike Reese, Doug Dutra and Judy Drake.

Rodney has a commanding lead but will have a target painted on his back at Clay City. As long as he does not win past the second round then his points will not change and would give everyone else a chance to make up ground.

Good luck to all!

Tom

Hey, Tom. Is that correct? On July 2nd, you show Ron at 84 points, and Norm at 74. Norm won at CC, and Ron was 2nd. That means Norm gained 10 points on Ron, which would make a tie for 2nd. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Norm replaced a 10 point race with a 40 point race so he only gained 30 points. These are the totals seymour gave me last night.

OK, I was just wondering. I had just about decieded not to go to Wilkesborro, but seeing the points totals, I need to reconsider. If I just win 2 rounds, it would be possible for me to get in the top 10.

I also misunderstood where i placed so it really doesnt make any sense in me going to north wilkesboro because i could not advane on Rodney even with a win. Oh well maybe go to St. Louis for the fun of it.

How do you figure....105 + 41 = 146. Rodney could go out first round and end up with 136 points and you win.

Giving up already Norman. NW could be a 50 point race.....hhhmmm.

I'd say you should come, Norm! 50 pt race is very likely.

I'll have two cars there myself and I suspect the Drakes will too? Don'tcha wanna beat Ron P anyway for local GA braggin' rights?

Cameron Tilley will also be there for sure. He shows up at my pad on 8/3.

Aw, come on, Norm. If I can make it, so can you. :P Even if Rodney wins the points, it's still between you an Ron for 2nd and 3rd. Can go either way. If you don't show up you admit defeat.

Aw come on Storming Norman put it at Wilksboro me and you shooting it out for against Rodney in the championship. This could be a 50 point race aint one later going to happen. Rodney is going to be tough to beat but it can be done so lets go brother and see if we can do it.Thanks Ron Parker

When I went through all of the newsletters to compile the list of all champions over the years I decided to add up all of the points they've earned as well. I called it "Career Points". It also tracks how many points they've given up over the years. Here's how it shakes out to date (not counting how many they have given up so far this year).

1) Rodney Hargis 135 + 873 = 1008 (Gave up 310 as of last year) =1318
2) Ron Parker 115 + 739 = 854 (Gave up 100) =954
3) Norman Foster 105 + 134 = 239 (-10) =249
4) Barry Harrison 74 + 240 = 314 (-0)
5) Lou Madsen 33 + 20 = 55 (-0)
Larry Chesney 33 + 79 = 112 (-0)
7) Gary Bruner 32 + 169 = 201 (-0)
Paul Moran 32 (R)
9) Eric Aricson 31 (R)
Darrin Alumbaugh 31 + 53 = 84 (-0)

Ron Hamby did have the most career points as of last year. He had earned 951 and gave up 250 for a total of 1201, so Rodney has now taken the lead for career points by topping the 1,000 point mark.

The most interesting I think is Seymour Pederson. Through the end of last year he had earned a total of 342 points and given back another 110 for a total of 452. He has given up almost a third of his points. He's one guy that truly loves this Slant 6 thing and isn't in it for the chance at a championship. He loves the racing and the people! Anyone who has met him can attest to that!

Other names of interest are last year's champion Dale Rose who had earned 744 and gave up 170 for a total of 914 as of last year.

Mike Jeffrey 552 + (-10) = 562
Mike Reese 243 + (-50) = 293
Charlie Schmid 188 + (-20) = 208
Doug Dutra 92 + (-0) = 92

If anyone's interested in your own stats I've got them all. If a name was mentioned with points anytime since 1999 I've got it.

We have had 148 different racers participate and earn points since 1999. There are others mentioned throughout the years that did not earn points.

Sure thing Lou. I enjoy it too.

I don't have much technical expertise to share, but I can look up information and put it into a spreadsheet and regurgitate it.
