I HAVE IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS BUILT A HOT SLANT MOTOR WITH A LARGER CAM HEAD WORK , BLANCED BOTTOM END NOW AFTER DRIVING IT AROUND FOR A WHILE I HAVE NOTICED THE 600 HOLLEY IS JUST TOO BIG !!!

NO I HAVE BEEN LOOKING A HOLLEYS AND EDELBROCKS

HUMM I NEED A HAND IN DESIDING 500 CFM EDBROCK OR??
HOLLEY 465/390 4BBL

HUMM AND WICH ONE HOLDS A TUNE !!!! AND BOLTS UP FAIRLY EASYLEY

Either dennis suggestion or holley 2300 500 cfm. I'd try first a nice 2300 350 CFM with a lower hg rated power valvle and fattened up jets (like 53 on the passg side of the metering block and 56 on the other side) 29 accel pump shooter and 6.5 hg power valvle (since you have a big cam)

After reading some of the vicious slams at Holley products on this board, I am hesitant to use one. That hesitance is based on the idea that the folks who posted those comments have some experience to back the slams up...

When I get around to building the /6 for my project, I would just like to set it up once, and know that it would be pretty close and reliable. I'm running a 600 cfm Edelbrock on my 318 in the ragtop, with no apparent problems, but Holley sells a lot of carbs. Am I to believe that there are that many fools (Carburetor fools, that is) out there?

Also, I am very curious about the current state of development of EFI for /6 engines. Seems like all the articles I find are at least a couple of years old, and written about works in progress or experimental setups. Has anyone ever finished a Pretty Darn Good EFI setup for "our" engines and brought it to market.

I notice Clifford has two on their website, but at least on respected member of this board says their customer service sucks... and THAT could be a BIG issue with something as new as EFI for
a /6.

All I wanna do is mix a little pump gas with whatever amount of air it takes to make respectable power. That seems so simple, but apparently not!

Edelbrock is better for the street
Holley is better for a track only car


I use the Edelbrock 500. There are many choices for rod/jet combinations and it is EASY to change them.

OK, i'm speaking about argentinian produced holleys. The 2300 350 CFM is a great carb. It does requires some almost permanent tweaking to run flawless, but one gets to even cherish them (in my case)

While I'm writing this, I recall having in my hands an US 2300, and it ain't completely alike yours. I have a friend that has an american 350 cfm holley and doesn't perform like none of my argentinians.

I don't know what cam profile does the original poster of this thread has, but I tend to think that 500 CFM is way over the street slant needs. Even if it's pepped up. I tried a 4 barrel (Carter) equipped not-so-mild slant once and it ran like crap for daily driving, but had a nice power in above average highway cruisin speed.

Holley 390 4 bbl. Yes, I have tried Edelbrocks too, the Holley works better and is faster. :shock:

...I can't really speak to "faster", because I never ran my Duster at the track whilst 390 holley equipped, (I do believe it pulls harder with the Carter, "seat-of-the-pants"), but I can say that I spent months screwing with the holley, trying to get the driveability right, and it was alwez one big damn headache after another, just like most all of the holleys I've ever had the misfortune of having to deal with. I had the Carter running like a top after just a few days and have never had a problem with it in the years since installing it.

I'm seriously willing to believe that since our toilet water runs the opposite way then yours, holleys works down here and carter sucks and viceversa below the ecuador... :lol:

dennis, are you talking bout 4 barrels holleys? those really sux! :x
