Post subject:  Condensate Scare..Is this Normal?

Hello all, I am finished with my 63 Dart restoration project and decided to turn my attention to my 62 Lancer/Aluminum yesterday.

I went to the strorage site, started her up and was checking a few items under the hood while she warmed up when to my surprise, a puddle started to form at my feet. A trail of liquid led to the exhaust pipe, where water was spewing from the exhaust........

No sign of any coolant in the discharge, just water....rusty water. The radiator is full :?

I let her run and in about 5 minutes all the water had been discharged and the exhaust was normal. What could cause this?? I havn't ruled out some yolkster at the storage site running a water hose up my exhaust as a prank.....I have never seen this much condensate leak from an exhaust. The car had last been run about two months ago and had been run about 40 miles prior to parking it on that occasion.

Any experiences here??

That's pretty normal for a Slant car. My old Duster used to have so many holes drilled in the exhaust you could play it like a flute.

It's important to run the car at full operating temperature for at least 30 Minutes, going down the road. Get all the moisure cooked out of there, or the exhaust gases/combustion byproducts will combine with any remaining moisture to rot your exhaust system out.
The resulting condensate tends to become acidic.
Idling it dry generally won't heat things up or flow enough gasses to clear the stuff out.

Dual exhaust systems tend to have more of a problem with muffler rot. Not enough hot gasses in many cases to thoroughly dry out on a normal in-town, moderate engine speed run.
