I'm making travel plans for Clay City. Looks like my wife and son may be coming along for the ride. I've got a couple of questions and this would also be a good spot for an official role call of who will attend. What hotels are people staying in? Here is a link to info from the track, but I'd like to get an idea of where is nice. I can't imagine that my wife will want to spend the entire day at the track with my 2.5 year old. Maybe a place with a pool? Does anybody's wife want to visit the horse track with them while I'm racing? I hate bringing them without anything for them to do but go to the track, but she hates to be left at home. http://www.mpdragway.com/mapinfo.htm Now this part is off topic, but worth a shot. I'm looking for a 4 door car with working AC. Should be a slant six, but I guess I could replace a 318 with a slant six if the body was nice. ![]() I'm not gonna bring the truck and the tow bar down unless I have something in mind to bring home. Anybody got one out back that is too nice to separate, but never gonna get the attention it really deserves? I'm Looking to get on the road for under $1500.(and that's digging deep) It will go to a good slanted home and replace a KIA (what a mistake that was, lawsuit is pending) If I don't find her a good slant six car, my wife will expect me to find her a used chevy cavalier and 5 more years of payments (yuck!) Send me a pm with any car suggestions please. |

I WILL BE STAYING AT THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS AND THEY HAVE AN INDOOR POOL. THE WIFE WILL BE WITH ME AND SHE ALSO WANT SPEND ALL DAY AT THE TRACK. THIS IS ABOUT 15 MILES FROM THE TRACK IN WINCHESTER, KY. I KNOW OF SOME OTHERS THAT ARE STAYING AT THE DAYS INN. |

I will be there, but haven't decided on lodging yet. May sleep at the track, or go to the Motel 6 or similar near where Norm is staying. There are some pretty state parks and such around there too (look on KY state site). BTW, Slant6ram, I have your blue towel from the hotel in Columbus and will bring it. Lou |

I talked to Mike last night. He is too far behind with his field work and won't be there either. ![]() |

My wife is reconsidering. It's a long car ride for her and the little one, and our truck may not be up to towing (it's going to the tranny shop tomorrow) She doesn't want to be stuck at the track or the hotel the whole weekend. I can't really blame her, my kid is a real handful. Seeing as how she hasn't deceided yet, I'm guessing it's just gonna be me and my car. I haven't made any hotel reservations yet. Do all the rooms fill up, or can I show up that night and still get a room? Charlie or Lou, I wouldn't mind sharing a room with either of you, but I'm not sure if I'll get there late friday night or extremely early saturday morning.(driving all night) I will want to split a room on saturday night. Sorry to hear several people won't make it, but I guess there is always next year. We'll take some pictures for you. |

Charlie is looking for a roommate. I will be sharing with my sister-in-law and staying at the Best Western Country Squire off of exit 94 in Winchester. Most of the other places around Winch are booked up. ![]() Too bad Mike J won't be there. Was looking forward to talking to him about Aus. BTW, I have stories from Dave Mueller's place in WA. Visited him last week for an evening - great guy. Lou |

At this time, my plans are to leave sometime Wed morning. I will post here, when I leave. I spoke to Seymour about sharing a room, but he will not know if he will have someone with him untill he leaves. If I make it I plan on being at the track Fri afternoon. My cell number is 352-208-8490, if anyone wants to contact me, about a room or anything. |

Good luck to everyone @ Clay city. I will have to wait until next year - A weeding came up. BTW I got the oil pump / Rod bearing problem taken care of in my car and I also installed a bigger cam while the motor was out. Greg |

I just spoke to Charlie. He's already there after a nearly non-stop tow. I'm seriously thinking about leaving now and driving all night to avoid heat and traffic. Then I'll have most of a day to relax and sleep off the trip before racing. Wish me luck! |

Quick update, more tomorrow: 15 car turnout, no breakage at all. Norm Foster beat Ron Parker in the finals when Ron redlighted. Rodney, who went out 1st round was standing behind me and went - YEAH - when the bulb lit. Norm and Ron are tied at 115pts and Rodney is at 135. Norm also went pretty far in box. Barry H beat me and Larry C beat Meril to make the semis. I broke out by 0.012 and was ahead of Barry by more than a car at the finish. ![]() ![]() Rookie racers Stacy Hargis and Paul Moran (Slant6ram) were there and running almost identical mid-18s times. Other racers were Ron Hamby, Seymour Pederson, Charlie Schmid, Derrick Daugherty, Meril Bruner, and Jim Cox and a mysterious tan Duster dude. I am happy to be at 33 pts and in the top ten! Project V ran 16.0-16.2 after motor mods and badly needs a stall converter now, but ran very well overall. See you cats at N. Wilkesboro, Lou |
