i thought at one time,someone wrote an article about forging the sl6 & 318 oil pans together.i mean that this fix would take the sump portion of the sl6 and ultimately put it in the rear instead of the traditional front position.what this did was:cut off the bolt work and sump sections from the sl6,and weld them on the 318 pan.if ANYBODY has any help please tell me please.this is for my 1969 plymouth belvedere.it has a 225,1bbl,3spd non synchro on the tree. |

Your post isn't very clear. You weld the S6 sump to the 318 pan rails? How is it going to bolt to a S6? Why not just weld a sump to the back of a S6 pan and plate where it used to be. Why is the 318 pan needed? If you put the sump in the rear, what are you going to do with the drag link? A S6 truck pan already has a rear sump. It may fit a car if you had rack and pinion steering (no drag link), plus it holds 1 or 2 extra qts of oil. |

to clarify what i meant was:if you take a 318 panthat is shallow and a sl6 pan and converge them:NO SUSPENSION CLEARENCE PROBLEMS.this means when you do this procedure you should be able to slide the pan right out.this could have been in the article section.maybe i could be wrong on sump location.maybe it stays in front,maxywedge. |
