1970 Swinger. The water comes in from behind the kick panels, and not from behind the dash. It seems as if it is much worse when I drive the car, as apposed to it's sitting in the rain. This would suggest that the wheels are kicking up the water and sending it into some seam that was not properly sealed when I restored the car 7 years ago. Does anyone have experience with this? Can the front windshield leak in a way that lets the water come in from behind the kick panels? How about the cowel? There is no water in the fresh air box itself.

Someone posted pictures of the cowl cut open and the drain holes and seams. I made a post in that thread telling where the water leaked through a body seam on my car, behind the kick panels, and under the carpet.

I can't find that post. Anyone know how to find it?

I had a slight problem with mine, I removed the front side panels in front of the door, and couldn't find anything, poured water down everywhere, and saw that it was designed to go out the bottom on the inside...........

Didn't really see anything wrong, but just for the hell of it, I siliconed a plastic sheet over the cutout opening, and reinstalled the front side panels...........

That did the trick....... With enough water/rain, water would on occasion splash on the side panel then wick into the interior, the plastic water proofed it.

Thanks guys. That was very helpful. I looked at the thread that SLantsixdan linked us to, and it was quite thorough. When I restored the car, I made removable panels that give me access to the cowl. I will take the panels out and see what is happening. I will also remove the kick panels and see if i can see where the water is coming in. It has stained the carpet real badly. Maybe i can take all that out and get it dry, and then clean it. This problem puts a real damper  on driving it. I hate to keep it home so much, since the East coast gets rain almost daily these days.
