I'm just trying to get the engine bay of my Valiant looking less cluttered. The charcoal canister was junk, so I too that out and the hoses, then capped the bungs on the carb. I was wondering about the vaccuum (spelling?) amplifier. It's mounted smack dab on top of the engine, and all those hoses look aweful. Is that thing really necessary? Another question is, what's the black, cylindrical thing mounted on the passenger's side fender. there's a hose running from it to the firewall? (Not the Charcoal Canister by the Radiator) |

Only if your EGR system is still intact and functional. The vacuum (only one "c") amplifier is part of the EGR control system.Quote: Another question is, what's the black, cylindrical thing mounted on the passenger's side fender. there's a hose running from it to the firewall? A/C and heater vacuum reservoir with check valve. Keep it.
