Check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 4563063747 It says keep the SBP and use Chevy S10 brakes? It was just featured in Mopar Action. I just converted to BBP, but maybe someone else is interested. |

The guy who makes the conversion kit is on Moparts as tallzag and local to me. He collects old mopar cop cars, nice guy, good products! I plan on doing the conversion myself. |

Now why would you want to hang those parts on your cars when you could do this conversion instead!

uummmmmm......cost? those of us on a budget can't afford the calipers alone(at $300 a caliper, my cost). although it is a tempting conversion. zedpapa |

I'm not sure I understand your question. What doesn't work on '64? If you are wondering why I did not use scarebird on my '64, it's because I already put an Explorer rear in the back, giving me the big bolt pattern (4.5" x 5). I did not want 2 different sets of rims, so I did a disc conversion from a '74 Valiant, which changes the front to BBP. |

Hey, Tallzag here and I am the one selling the Scarebird stuff. On the '64 question, according to the interchange manuals we have seen it will not interchange, but we have not had the opportunity to try a conversion on a 64 yet. As far as I know, this is the only way to convert to disc brakes on an A-Body while keeping the SBP wheels without using a Kelsey Hayes set-up. We have a 10" drum conversion and a 9" drum conversion, total cost for everything is about $300.00. |

That's not correct. There is no difference in the A-body 9" drum components or setup between '62 and '72. Interchange manuals are good for ballpark-scale knowledge, but they frequently just don't get you all the way there. Whatever you offer that works on a '65 A-body, also works on a '64, a '63 or a '62 A-body.The "might work/might not" question would be on '60-'61 cars, which have some component and setup differences. |

Just wanted to give you guys an update on the Scarebird Brakes. We have redesigned the 9 inch drum brake kit and now you do NOT have to cut your spindle with it! It is a much better design and we are real excited about it. Take a look: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SCAREBIR ... QQtcZphoto |

Doesn't that chevy use the 5x100mm bolt pattern? Wouldn't the same cavets that are raised about using the rims, also apply to the rotors? Do you need to install longer studs? Does your setup for the 8 3/4" axle, also work form th 8 1/4" axle? If not, why not? |

I think this setup is very clever. The low-budget aspect is very appealing. I had a look at there web site and will definately be ordering some brackets for my son's '72 Skylark. Scott. |

You do have to redrill the rotors for the set-up to get the correct small bolt pattern. The 8 3/4 will also work for the 8 1/4. |

im thinking of doing this upgrade for my front brakes, it seems the easiest and most straight forward to do, but one question, what kind of wheels would i want if im planning on moving up to 14" wheels? 14"x?, 5x4...what should the ? mark be? and once i do figure this out, what brand/place to buy is good? any recomendations? thanks for your time, guys |
