she wont hold an ilde and i think its because of a vacuum leak or two. i broke my egr switch valve when i was in the process of fixing an exhaust leak (see thread). as of now the remains of the switch is just "sealed" with some good ol' duct tape. does anyone make a block off for this switch?? is this the reason why its not idling??

I've seen egr blockoff plates on ebay for slant manifolds if you want something fancy. Otherwise, just fabricate one out of some scrap metal you have laying around.

I don't know how broke yours is, but I think I recall people sayign you can install them upside down to defeat them as well.

well the problem was fixed with a carb swap. i was taking about the egr switch on the head. it broke wen i was machining out a broken stud. i ha the head upside down resting on it and the two little nipples broke off. all seems well now. tomorrow im gonna reajust the kickdown assembly and take a cruise.

Did you crack the metal base of the egr or just the upper portion that the vacum line attaches to? If it is just the upper portion try flipping it 180 degrees. Hope this helps.
