Post subject:  Evaporator drain hose question?

Is the hose that drains the AC evaporator cavity supposed to be a straight shot out through the firewall? Mine has a dip and almost a kink and then angles up to go through the hole in the firewall. I was just wondering if it's supposed to be this way? The water still comes out but there is always gonna be some left in the housing. It seems like it ought to be a slight downhill shot. If so I need to drill a new hole in the firewall lower than the existing hole. The existing hole is almost even with the spout on the evap housing.

However I was also thinking it may be like a drain on a sink where water in the dip prevents fumes from coming back in the cab.

Thanks.

Hardly none of the water runs out of my drain hose. It all runs back into the floor. I'm thinking about enlarging the hole some so that it will not have a hill to climb.

By the way, where can I get a new hose at. Mine is splitting.

The evaporator drain hose should not have any "uphill" sections. It should be all downhill from the evaporator housing to the outlet, which you should check occasionally to make sure isn't blocked.
