Will a Jeep Cherokee rear work in a narrow-body ('64) Valiant? Does anyone have the specs? What modifications are needed – spring perches, driveshaft length/U-joint, etc?
I’m looking for a large bolt pattern rear to go with my front disk brake setup. Given the local shortage of RWD Mopars in general and A-bodies in specific, I’m open to suggestions. I found references to various donors (early Mustangs, Mavericks, Granada/Monarchs, etc) by searching the forum, but not much definite on the Cherokee. I spotted a (mid-80’s?) Cherokee in the nearest junkyard, but didn't have time or tools to take any measurements.

I pulled a 8 1/4 from a 78 volare and it was only 1.14 inches total wider than a 7 1/4. But you will have to install spring plates on the rear as it came with the isolator type.
