Is the material in the drip edge on a 64 Dart simply bondo?

Please be more specific about what you mean when you say "drip edge". This could refer to a lot of different areas on the car.

And no, there was no Bondo (nor anything even similar to Bondo) applied to the car by the factory.

There was a semi-hard sealer in the bottom of the drip flange. Probably a rubber based material. If you are replacing it then a modern silicone based sealant that will take paint would probalby work well.

Sorry, had the car for 10 years and the only thing I've ever referred to as a drip edge, is on the roof above the doors. Is there another?

Original Tucson car and this material is peeling up in chuncks.
Soon (I hope), I will be painting it and of course this is prep.

As said above, just use a good paintable seam sealer. I bought a tube of 3M sealer from my automotive paint supplier.

3M makes a brushable seam sealer in a quart can that has the exact same firmness when cured, the only trick is getting it to lay in the channel flat like the original sealant did. Jerry's got it right; seam sealer is what you want to shop for. I havent seen this sealer in a tube but then again, I havent kept up on paint and body supplies in the last few years.
