Post subject:  Calling Dartvader or Sandy. How did you mount PST sway bar?

I am trying to figure out if this bar mounts on the front of the K-member, like their bad diagram, underneath the K-member like a stock early A-body, or on something else. Does anybody have pictures of what they did?

I have called the PST guy and left a message. So far, no love from them.

Thanks,

Greg

I just used their mounts...they are made for a later A body and only semi-fit the early types. Mine are at a bit of an angle and I always meant to add a brace and straighten them out but they work fine the way they are.

I think Lou fixed his up and posted a pic about a thousand years ago,,,

I'm afraid I didn't use the PST bar. Modified my cheesy Addco mounts on both my 64 and 68 Dart installs.

Post subject:  Still thinking about where and how to mount the bar

Hi all,

The way that I think that a sway bar should mount is to push these center mount points outboard as far as possible(less binding, more transmission of force from one side to another, stronger), and parallel with the front of the car, and the bottom of the frame.

With the curves built into the early K-frames, I am not seeing an ideal place on the front to meet these needs.

Any good photos of any bar mounted on the front of the K-frame, instead of the bottom of the K-frame, like the factory bars?

I am considering fabbing up some aluminum wedges/shims that might create a flat, parallel surface for the bar, and tapping the drilled holes in the K-frame.

Thoughts?

thanks,

Greg

Your plan was always what I had intended to do with mine....I just never got a round Tuit. The good news is the bar works well even with the crappy K member mounts. Hey!...make a second set and send them to me!

You are not making me feel more secure, Sandy. This problem is pi**ing me off. I paid them good money, they gave me a crappy xeroxed pencil drawing of a poorly engineered solution.

GRRRR.

Well I think the thing to do is look at the whole package....the rest is real good stuff....the K-mounts are designed for a late A and prolly are great there. The mounts work fine as they are,,,,6 years here...its a matter of cosmetics.

Post subject:  PST Bar was about $180, with Poly bushings

Hope this helps.

Sandy, it was good talking to you, too.

I just added the above pic. I think this shows the only way that their mounting will work.

Hey Greg, I know I'm very late with this request, but do you have a front view of how your brackets mount to the K-frame? Looks good!

I still haven't figured out a good way to handle the K-frame connection without the excess bracket hangdown. Got the PST/Addco sway bar going on a 1966 Dodge Dart GT.

Cheers

I will snap some pics in the morning, and put them up.

I am only semi satisfied with the mounts. PST was little or no help after I called their tech line. Left messages, they assured me it was right, and finally didn't answer me anymore.
