Post subject: | Fuel Pump |
I just put on a fuel pump and I noticed the new one doesn't have a spring connected to the arm. Is the new one spring loaded in another way or am I missing the spring? Also I've started to notice a lobing sound from that area is that normal? |

You do need the spring -- sounds like your new pump came through with a missing piece. That spring keeps the pump arm on the camshaft to eliminate the knocking noise that would otherwise result. |

Maybe the design if the pump was changed (improved) so it no longer needs the external spring? Maybe it has in internal spring instead? |

They all have internal springs. The external spring is supposed to be there to prevent the knocking noise as formerly described. I'm sure some clueless Lexus-driving MBAsshole decided that it could be eliminated for an 8-cent cost reduction in the manufacture of the part, since only poor people and losers drive old cars, anyway. |
