Post subject:  Fuel Pump

I just put on a fuel pump and I noticed the new one doesn't have a spring connected to the arm. Is the new one spring loaded in another way or am I missing the spring? Also I've started to notice a lobing sound from that area is that normal?

You do need the spring -- sounds like your new pump came through with a missing piece. That spring keeps the pump arm on the camshaft to eliminate the knocking noise that would otherwise result.

Can I use the spring from the bad pump? I kept it just in case.

Maybe the design if the pump was changed (improved) so it no longer needs the external spring? Maybe it has in internal spring instead?

They all have internal springs.

The external spring is supposed to be there to prevent the knocking noise as formerly described. I'm sure some clueless Lexus-driving MBAsshole decided that it could be eliminated for an 8-cent cost reduction in the manufacture of the part, since only poor people and losers drive old cars, anyway.
