If you leave out the adjuster cable, you'll just have to adjust them manually from time to time, like every 10k miles or so. Not a big deal and I often leave them out of my rear brakes especially.

what advantage is there to leaving them out of the rear drums??? One of my rears broke, might I as well take the other out? the advantage? hmmmmmmmmmm.

Just go buy a new adjuster kit, Idiot Auto Parts has them, and they are cheep... If you leave them out, it's smart to get the proper lower spring for non-self adjusting brakes - they interfere with the star wheel slightly and keep it from moving on it's own.
