Post subject:  Not Slant Related--Glue for ABS plastic?

Hey guys,

Just bought a new truck and the driver side mirror (some kind of plastic) has a V shaped chip out of it. The previous owner actually has the chip, so I was going to try and glue it back in. I don't want it to fall out, and was wondering what kind of stuff I should use.

I had thought about just plain old epoxy, but figured there is something better for the job out there.

Thanks!

MJ

Post subject:  ABS Glue

Black sewer pipe is ABS plastic -
Maybe the sewer and drain pipe goop from
the plumbing store will work.

Note this is a different glue than used on PVC
(sprinkler/water supply pipes)

So this is not the purple stuff you use on abs pipes?

Post subject:  Purple ???

The Sewer and Drain pipe cement for ABS is generally Gloss Black
I have not done house remodeling is some time - Maybe
designer colors are available now?? Purple would be too
wild (except on a Plum Crazy Cuda :) ).

I work in a plastics shop, and we use methylene chloride for a quick bond, and acryfix 117 for lasting strength.

........haven't really used the commercially available stuff.

when in doubt, ask dan.

Unfortuantly, FATBOYs turn signal would not shutoff and go "blink, blink, blink" for the next 20 miles.

hahahahahahaha!

I was wondering when someone would say something about that.

Minnesota must have the worst, most arrogant drivers anywhere. a few days back I was on my way to the lake, when some fat, bald, middle-aged guy in his SUV (stupid useless vehicle) decided he didn't need to use his turn signal or speed up to merge with highway traffic from the on ramp. he then started honking at me and giving me the finger because I didn't want to drop my speed another 20MPH to let him in. he kept coming anyway and almost hit me, making me swerve into the next lane and I nearly hit the guy on my left.

I guess all he thought he had to do was follow that little white line and that was the end of his responsibilities.

the sad thing is, in this state that is the norm. just one more reason for me to move to Canada I guess.

Post subject:  That is why I moved out of Minnesota

I learned to absolutely HATE the self justified/self rightous/knowitallism of Minnesota. I got my BS from the U of MN ( Golden Gophers), left for Grad school one state over, and never moved back. The drivers there were bad, and worst of all, they felt self rightous about whatever they were doing.

When I lived in Chicago, people drove fast and aggressively, but I never got the same sense of "I deserve the space that you are in" that I got there.

...don't know about arrogant, but Macon, GA (and central GA in general) has the absolute stupidest, most moronic drivers in the known realm.

never been to georgia myself. been to austin texas, and loved it though. really nice people and I was treated very well.

I have been to chicago, and I liked it there too. it was nice to see people actually approach the speed limit.

see if your horror stories can top this one, by the way, I have plenty more of these, and they are all true:

a few years back, I witnessed an accident on a four lane divided highway, divided by a grass ditch. to make the story short, I ran up to the injured people in the car, but I couldn't get to the people, because there was another family, with their faces pressed up against the windows in their car, stopped right next to the car in the ditch. there was an ambulance right behind them, sirens going, full lights and everything, and the damn car wouldn't move. the ambulance had no way to get closer unless they moved (you really have to see the area). I guess they didn't want to miss anything.

I started screaming at them to move and they wouldn't, so, I started throwing rocks at the car. the driver rolled his window down and started yelling at me, at I screamed at the moron "don't you realize there is an ambulance 3 feet behind you trying to get in here???" the driver literally rolled his eyes at me, then pulled away, cutting off the rest of people on the highway (didn't use a signal either).

welcome to minnesota!
