how do i replace the flasher unit for my turn signal? i can't find it....

It is located on the underside of the dash, between the radio and glovebox. Curl your fingers under there and your bound to hit it.

It may be in a different location on your 75, but thats where it is on my 71 duster.

In my Mexican ´71 Duster is located also under dash but at the left side of the Steering Column

Chrysler also liked to clip them to the back of the ashtray. If it is newer than 76 like a volare it is prolly integrated into the fuse block.

Avenger, my 71 also has a flasher on the left side fo the column under the dash, just inback of the instrument cluster, but it is for the emergency flashers not the turn signal.

Interesting, but between radio and glove box is nothing like that, only some cables pass there.

Is there any flasher unit available that doesn't make the little clicking noise. I absolutely hate the sound and would love to find a silent flasher unit.

All mechanical flashers will make some sound, but you could make one much quieter by proper mounting and sound insulation. It might be easier just to buy an electronic flasher and modify it.

While I've never taken an electronic flasher apart, I believe they only make noise via a small (piezoelectric?) device there for that purpose. The ones with a clear case don't look too hard to open up and get inside - I think I saw one at PepBoys for $10-12.

Just disconnect|remove|disable that device (it should be easy to find) and you'll have your silent flasher.

Really? Interesting. Most people want to go the other way ("Make the click louder! I can't hear it over the radio and road noise!").

You can make the click much quieter by removing the flasher from its bracket, which is a brass spring clip on the back of your '65's ash tray housing. It's clipped there so the metal dashboard will amplify the clicking. Raid under the kitchen sink for a foam sponge, cut a small circle out of it, and press the flasher unit into the sponge. This will keep the flasher from rattling around, and will further muffle the click.

Hope you're not going to be one of those who drives around with flashers on all the time 'cause you don't hear the click and you don't notice the blink!

Those clear-case "electronic" (really capacitive) flashers such as EL-12C actually make the click with a mechanical clapper that strikes a plate. You can see it operating if you watch this flasher operate.

I have on my shelf a completely electronic flasher that does have a little piezo speaker that's supposed to beep/chirp instead of click. It would be very simple to deactivate the piezo speaker, giving an utterly silent flasher.

Thank you for the input, I'll look into the chirp/beep kind and work to disable the speaker. And to calm your nerves, no I am not one of those people that drives around with it on. The bright green blinking arrow is enough to attract my attention.
