The owners of the very first As 59-62 Valiants and 61-62 Lancers have a little harder time finding what they need to keep their babies on the road. It would be great if the slant 6 community could keep their eyes peeled for sources that lovers of these first cars designed for the slant 6 can make use of. These "TOADIES" as some called them were the first true compact fun cars on the road. They were the inspiration for the 'Tangs, Firechickens, and others that came to be known as pony cars. They are an important part of auto history and need to be remembered. Nick Lancer Owner |

Actually,I have seen quite a few parts on ebag for a reasonable price for the early A's and had an easier time finding parts for my 60V200 (or parts than can be made to work) than for my 71 D100. I dont think that there will ever be any aftermarket for the 60-62 a bodies.I was lucky enough to find a reasonable priced parts car.The Valiant shop manuals(for a 61 you will need both the 60 and 61 manuals as the 61 manual is mearly a supplement for for the 60)will work for your Lancer and can be had regularly on ebag for $20-$25 for the pair.I highly recomend that you get the manuals first. HyperValiant P.S. Dan,I havnt forgot about the bumper guards but have only been able to find the front guards and am starting to suspect that the fronts are all that I have(the car was disasembled when I got it and I wasnt planning to use them anyway so I never gave them much thought) but from what I can gather from the pics I have is that they are the sames as a Lancer. |
