Just got home from getting the car ready for Monster Mopar this weekend. I know I said I was going to try and put it in the 11's on weather and gear only, but I'm guessing that the weather at St. Louie is going to suck like always. Therefore, besides putting in the 3.91 gears, I also went up 1 jet size on the nitrous side, and may lower fuel pressure just a little more. Just as a safety precaution I have switched from my trusty Autolite 25's to a set of NGK R5674-9's. Reason for that is that I have been told that Autolite's will not burn an electrode, the piston will go first. NGK's are supposed to melt before a piston.

We'll find out Saturday.

If the motor is still in one piece, I am leaving St. Louis to go to Coles County in Charleston, IL and run for a Wally on Sunday. Believe it or not, my little Slant car is fast enough to run Super Pro there.

Guess Mike and I are running for $500/$250 by ourselves?

I bet a green car shows up.

I will be making the 15 minute drive to get over there this weekend Zilla, but I am pretty sure my slanted/3 speed challenger won't pass tech that. However, I do plan on trying to park it in the daily driver area and will be checking out the slant six races as well as trying to track down some pieces for the Swinger I just picked up.

I'll be arriving Saturday morning and pitting with the Buzzin' Half Duzzin' car. Stop by and say Hi. I hope to get a look at your car too. Slant E-bodies are too cool. :D

You may just have to keep the thing together all weekend.

How can I blow you off at Indy if you blow it up now?

I agree, lets not get hasty about blowing it up. I hope to make indy as well and I need a big race if I hope to collect half the points I need.

Looks like it could be another BIG slant six race at indy.(even without possum) Tune it good this weekend and then save the BIG bang for Indy.

Better yet, blow it up trying to catch me in the first round, I could use all the help I can get. :(

Talked to Mike about an hour ago. 3 Slant cars on the place with Seymour and I expected tomorrow. Weather is shyt, hot and muggy as always. Car count seems to be down 25% for the event over Friday last year.

Mike Jeffrey won the race Saturday. Weather was hot and humid. 7 cars showed up, no green cars though. Dennis was close to the 11 sec. range. He ran a 12.02 @ 109.

Thanks for the update, Joel. Congrats to Mike for the win, and to Dennis for the near-11-sec pass.

Thanks Joel, it was great to see you again!

AND.... it was a 12.002@110.07 on my breakout againts Fred Mueller. (12:01 dial)

We had 7 cars altogether, I'll see if I can remember them all.

1. Mike Jeffrey- Buzzin Half Duzzin'- 10:54@125 was his best. :D Winner
2. Dennis Schumers-Slantzilla-12.002@110 Semi
3. Seymour Pederson-'62 Valiant-mid 14's 1st round
4. Joel Harris-'69 Valiant- mid-15's 1st round
5. Mike (?)- very nice Aspen-high 15's Semi
6. Rick Valent from Arizona-'62 Valiant 4 door, low 18's 1st round
7. Fred Mueller and son-'70 Dart, box stock-low 20's. Runner up

My break-out against Fred was a real brain fart. I was buried by him on the tree, but his car ran far enough off that I had tons of room to get out of it. Instead, I wanted the 11 second time slip and broke out by .008, but did go over the 110 mph mark.

My trip to Charleston today was a waste as far as racing went. I used to race there years ago and the track was a skating rink. I ran Super Pro, and there were actually 2 Chevy's dialed in slower than me. I got a gimme in the first round, bulbed in the 2nd, and actually aborted the pass when the car went sideways in 2nd gear.

It was nice to finally meet some of the slant six racers on Saturday and yes it was hot and humid all day long. Hopefully next year I can get a chance to get either my challenger or my new swinger set to pass tech and get a few runs with everyone.

As it was I got to see the first rounds of racing and meet most of the racers and check out everyone's rides. But since I am in the process of selling a house/moving I didnt get to stick around as long as I had hoped on Saturday. I did put the challenger in the non-judged show area and spent what little time I was around the car laughing at all the people doing double takes when they would walk by and see the slant six under the hood of an E-body.

Dennis and Mike thanks for taking the time to talk with me, although I still wish one of you would have been willing to drag that slant six block out of my garage....now I just hope the wife will allow me to put it in the storage building.

Brian
