| Post subject: | Body Questions |
I've been looking for parts for my car. The inner fender is bent up, the part that is welded in and is attached to the firewall and radiator support and to the shock mount. Is it even possible to get this out? And have another one welded in? It's just a bunch of spot welds, right? If anyone has advice or experience with anything like this, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks |

THe 'bathtub' as it is nicknamed is where your upper front suspension is attached to, and the radiator along with the K-member. I have seen body shops put these back into shape by using a frame stretcher (gotta make sure your uni body is back into factory specs or she may drive 'funny'), I have seen them on a rarer car get s donor 'bathtub' and weld the front back on with some reinforcements...in both cases the cost for each was enough to buy a nice unmolested Arizona A-body.... If you're going that route, just go to a junkyard, find a straight 1973-1976 Dart/Dart Sport, and have them torch the front end off the car... (did that to a 75 Gold Duster...kinda was fun to wheelbarrow the whole frontend up to my buddy's flatbed got disc brakes, radiator, etc...for a whole $250...) good luck, -D.Idiot |
