Post subject:  833 outputshaft/yoke bushing replacement?

i have a overdrive 833 that i rebuilt less than a year ago and put in my car. however i did not replace the bushing that the yoke rides on as it appeared to be in good shape. at the same time the 8.25 axle was installed and the stock driveshaft was shortened one inch and balanced and istalled with new u-joints. the tranny is fine except that it grinds when shifting in to second no matter how slow you shift it. i have noticed that the driveshaft has about a 1/16 to 1/8 inch play at the trans.

is it possible to replce this bushing without dissambly of the trans or am i looking at another trans rebuild?

i measured for the driveshaft length before having it shortened to make sure it would be right.

comments?

I would say that you would at least need to remove the tailshaft to get to that bushing - so A complete teardown probably would be in order.

I just ordered the Rebuild kits from mancini Racing.

Every thing is included except the small piliot bearing gasket.

Anyway, I had to chisel / smash the old bushing out and I used a big socket to carefully install new one. I think this would be hard with the output shaft in place!
