Post subject:  strange nosie commming from my slant

Hi everyone, I have a quick question about a problem I'm having with my slant. I have a 66 dart with a fairly new rebuilt engine in it (20,000 miles) and just recently it has been making a clunking noise while it is at idle and cold. The noise stops when I accelerate up to 1000 rpms or higher, or when the engine warms up after about 5 minutes of driving. So if I let the car warm up and idle at a say a stoplight, the sound is gone. I was under the impression that if it was a rod or main bearing problem the noise would continue throughout all rpms ranges or engine temp. Oil pressure is great at idle (40 psi) and it comes up right as I start the car. Anyone have an idea? I haven't done any tests on the car yet because I am busy but I am not driving it anymore until I figure this one out. Thanks

take care and welcome to this wonderful board... (we're a nice crowd unless you put a 2bbl carb with a stovebolt adapter onto a 1 bbl manifold  )
