Hey just got done rebuilding 2 833's one with a 1:1 top gear and one with the .7?:1 top gear - anyway I plan to use both eventually in my street / strip dart - What oild would work best for this - No cold weather driving!

80w90. If you want a brand rec there are many companies selling different oils. royal purple redline lucas mobil 1 are some of the higher end stuff or you could just go to the local dealer and buy some mopar brand stuff.

There was just a big discussion of this on the Mopax mailing list on 833 tranny lube. Redline seemed to keep coming up as being tested and good. Mobil 1 may also have a product for synchro trannys?

I have a GM synchromesh fluid in my T5 and have had no issues. Recommended by Eberg??

For just daily driving I use 90 wt, but I also make sure the bottle says "for manual transmission", and has no "friction modifiers" for sure grip rear ends.

I have heard good things from others in my town about redline and mobil1.

D.I. is right. friction modifiers indicates the lube was made for a differential (GL-5.)
you want the bottle that says GL-4 lube usually 75 or 80-90w. this is the stuff for your 4 speed trans.
my 1970 dart service manual says to use what they call multipurpose gear lubricant SAE 140 in warm weather and SAE 90 gear lube or automatic transmission fluid in cold weather. i'm not sure if this type of gear lube is still available. i've always had 80-90 GL-4 at my disposal and it works fine.
lou- i recall reading a comment e-berg wrote years ago about using synthetics in an a-833 and the results were dismal. something bout the synchros won't work properly. i think he said modern synchros have a groove cut across the face to bleed that stuff off so they could brake the gears. the fluids may have changed by now.
