Post subject:  I have a valve spring problem...

So today I tried my new double springs seems the inner springs were hitting the black seals so I am lucky enough to have those white ones that will work with the double springs

but now... the springs I got seems a bit bigger in diameter than the og springs and the inner springs are kind of hitting the inner side of the retainers

the springs I got were the ones recommended for that cam

should I get other bigger spring holders?

can 318 or 360 make it work?

Are you trying to use the stock valve spring retainer? If you are going to use dual valve springs, you will need a retainer designed for dual springs, and the valve stem diameter. Also there are retainers, that will change the assembled spring height. Need to contact your cam company, and see what retainer they recommend for that spring.
PS: use a steel retainer, for a street engine.

The guides will also probably have to be machined down.

I've ordered new retainers for the double springs

So i supose the head must be machined too for the inner springs so they stay in one place???

check these pics out!

Do you think it has to machined also so the inner springs doesnt go anywhere????

The cutter they use to do the guides will also do the spring seats.

You can buy the cutters, and do the job yourself, with an electric drill. Comp Cams has the tools. They have different sizes depending on the spring Diameter and the guide OD and ID. The ones I have are"
4718: Spring Seat cutter for 1.440 od spring dia.
4727: Valve guide cutter for .530 OD of guide.
4734: Arbor for cutters, 3/8 Valve guide ID.
