I'm getting a front end bushing set for my 78 Aspen Wagon and for the lcas it says to use the outer shell.

But here http://moparmusclemagazine.com/tipstric ... trol_arms/ they say to pull them out.

Is it OK to just leave them in and insert the bushing?

Use the instructions that come with the parts you are installing. The
manufacturer knows more about the parts than the magazines. Did
you order poly or rubber bushings? Generally, when poly bushings
are being installed the old shell is not removed and the poly bushing
are installed inside the old shell. For rubber bushings both the shell
and the bushing are removed and then replaced as a unit.

If you ordered poly - don't let DW hear about it

Who's DW?

Thanks by the way. I know that some say don't use poly in the LCA, but Energy Suspension sells a kit (Botsides upper and lower), and they said don't mix poly and rubber.

What's the problem with poly in the LCA?

D/W = Dennis Weaver... to get Dennis' and lots of other peoples opinions on the poly bushing issue just do a simple search of this site. I won't divulge any of the fun here just look for old posts on front end rebuilts or poly bushings.

Thanks, I'll remember all I read when I'm working on the Project.

This is just a quicky front end rebuilf so that I can drive my 78 Aspen wagon. for about a year. Got it for $300, it's clean as all get out with the super six and 833OD tranny, which eventually is going into my 64 Dart wagon (or maybe pickup custom).

Too many cars. Need to get rid of the 83 Ramcharger I've been driving.

Thanks again all

How does the Aspen/Volare LCA differ from the A-body LCA?

:!: You betcha my friend. Remember the F-body (Aspen/Volare) has the tranverse (front mounted) t-bars vs. the longitudinal setup on the A/B/C/E etc. And be VERY, VERY careful that there is no pre-load on the bars when you loosen them. They will hurt you BAD. RICK
