Hi there, i need a few infos about wrenches sizes for my dart since i'm not near my car but i really do need these infos cause i got the opportunity to buy a few inches spanners (kinda rare here!). Well, i actually wanna buy the wrenches to bleed my valve (since they are very small nuts, it's very prone to go round with a metric model, well you know this anyway!). My dart is a 68' 2dr. hardtop and it's got Disc Brakes up front and of course drum brakes for the rear. So, what size are the bleeder screws? If anyone has the info, it would be very helpful for me. Another info i need about sizes is the thread (and size) used on fuel pump outlet and carb inlet. My carb is a holley 1920. I actually have a hose making the link but i'd like real connectors cause it's leaking gas at the carb inlet (i think the banjo i use is a bit worn). If you have any info, it really helps me! The rear are more than likely 1/4" I don't know about the front I would expect 3/8". Why not just go down to your local sears and buy 6 point wrenches for the bleeder screws and use a little anti sieze on the threads so you can turn again later. |

I'll throw a wrench into the works..............  Don't know the sizes, but I seem to recall that when I replaced the wheel cylinders the size of the new bleeder valves was different............... Unfortunately I think it's one of those things that you need to be there to know what you need.......

It's been my experience that the actual size across the flats on several rebuilt brake cylinders is metric, even though the originals were standard. |

Make sure you get a 6 point or flare end - don't try to use a normal box end or 12 point, else you risk stripping if they are rusted up or tightend execssively. A 6 point socket (may need deep one) should work as well if you already have a socket set. |

Years ago I actally bought a bleeder wrench which was supposed to work on all American cars. It's rather small (I assume that if you can't open them with this wrench then you got a problem). It is a six point. One end is 3/8 the other is 5/16. Part no. K-D 283. I have not had the opportunity to try it on my 68 Dart. |

I have seen the bleeder screws from 1/8 to 3/8. It all depends on who made the replacement parts. |

8, 11, 13, 14, 17 and 19 mm wrenches will fit fractional bolts closely. I understand how hard it is to get fractional sockets and spanners in the EU, but they are a necessity when working on an american car. I suggest mailordering a good set of tools, get a good set of sockets from 1/4" all the way up to 1&1/2", and from 1/4" to 1" on your spanners. Having a few adjustable spanners will also help. Dont forget the spark plug socket. |

I can get " tools most anywhere  Not the biggest selections, but not a problem...They get what I want in a day or two... But then, I don´t live in the EU

Surf the web for what you need. Brands like Beta, Snap On (for people with lots od cash) have it all Write down what you need and find a local hardware store. No problem to find something in inches here in Belgium I ordered the automotive set from Beta in Inches ( they got it in metric also) 3 days delivery at hardware store. 30% discount on retail price. So i made i very good deal. Now i only have to start using those wrenches! lol Greetings from Belgium |
