Trans, bellhousing, shifter+rods. The driveshaft should bolt up but may need a different yoke on some cars. If you keep the 4 spd from a 66 and later car you'll save a few headaches. Get a 833od and have the best of both worlds. The gearing of 123 is almost the same as the 3 spd boxes and they have that nice od 4. And no you can't shorten a shaft at home safely. I recommend reading the four speed article on this site. good luck with the swap. |

There was someone with a 4 speed od on the forabodiesonly.com website yesterday, I think he was in canada somewhere. I think there was also something selling one on the slantsix.com site as well. |

Hey, 66 Dart... I talked to you over on the .com site. I'm the guy with the 318/904... I also had posted over there (and I thought here too?) that I have 2, A833 OD's and need to sell 1 of them. Long tail (truck/van version, 727 length), sorry no bellhousing but I do have a shifter and rods, etc for 1 of them. E mail me if interested. |

| Post subject: | Dart, I have your bellhousing |
Hey Dart, I acquired several of the Aluminum OD bellhousings and clutch fork stuff recently when doing my 833OD swap for a 3-speed. Can fix you up if you PM me. Mcnoople is correct..it is a great tranny. I put in a 3.91 positraction to match that final .73 gear, but I have 15 inch tires. Carefully consider your tire diam as well as the rear end, you don't want to wear out clutches slipping them to get going in 1st. Also, you would be well advised to get a shifter/shifter mount/and rods that match. I spent poly dollars buying rods and hoping to get a set that worked. rock '64d100 |

Hey 66 Dart,,, get my E mail;??? Mc noople is right,, the OD is a great trans. You won't have any trouble wearing out clutches slipping them too much in trying to get rolling, as the 1st 3 gears are basically the same as the 3 that you now have. Only real difference would be the bellhousing since the collar on the OD trans is 5-1/8", which is bigger than the collar on your current trans... Actually I kind of liked the old 3 on the tree, until the column wore out that is. |
