Hi there, just started to put all the front back together.
I noticed that there is a 169 written on my headlamp. Since it's european headlamps, it's probably the size in millimeters. The point is : 169mm makes 6.65" and not 7". Is that a problem? In fact i put back the headlamp bezel and the hole where the headlamp goes is quite bigger than the headlamp.
Is that normal?
I have the chrome surrounding of the headlamp and it just fit perfectly the headlamp and so does the rear thing that is used to adjust the lights but i wonder if it is the right size for 7" headlamps...
Thanks for your help

Marc

Probably not. It's probably the maker's lens ID number. I have rooms and rooms full of European headlamps made over the past 50 years, and none of them has the size marked anywhere on it. Your car takes 7" (178mm) headlamps. Of course, given the other "local modifications" you have shown us on your car, it is possible the previous owner was too lazy to buy the correct headlamps and just crammed some smaller lamps in place somehow. Put the Valeo 082438 units in; they'll fit perfectly.

Or, y'know, you could buy This 1963 Valiant, mislabelled as a 1962, which is a lot closer to you than to us, and grab the now-rare old yellow Marchal Amplilux 7" headlamps out of it.

Man! This is a 3hours drive from my home!
In fact, about the smaller size i was concerned mostly because the chrome surrounding of my current headlamp fits perfectly my headlamps but if my current headlamps are too small, they won't fit any bigger size...
Anyway, i guess it's not the size (i still didn't measure exactly this thing!!...).

Got a few infos more : i measured my headlamp and the exterior dimension is 7" but the "interior" is about 170mm. I mean the interior diameter of the chrome surrounding is 170mm. Is that normal?
