the 66 dart i own has a 318 with a 2 barrel carb.
i want to install a 4 barrel but it appears the cable is about 2 inches too short or the throttle cable bracket is different for the 2 barrel versus the 4 barrel. does anyone know?
thanks, von wagner

Yes, the cable is shorter. You will need a cable from a 4-bbl car, an aftermarket source, or adapt one from another model.

Yep, your best bet is to get a COMPLETE throttle bracket and kickdown rod assembly from a 4-bbl 318 or 360-powered vehicle. 1980s vintage police-spec M-bodies, pickup trucks, full-size vans, and Ramchargers are your best bets these days.

The throttle CABLE from the 2-bbl car should work just fine- what you need is the bracket and kickdown rods, because they are offset relative to the cylinder head differently than the 2-bbl bracket and kickdown rods since the 4-bbl carb is wider and the throttle lever is further forward on the engine.

If your 318 originally had a 1-piece kickdown rod setup, you'll probably find that most of the donor vehicles use a 3-piece rod- so be sure to get the lower bellcrank that connects the vertical rod to the transmission rod along with its pivot post that threads into the side of the transmission housing while youre there. All transmissions have the place that the pivot post threads into the tranny housing.
