Has anyone tried to tru there own rods?putting Guzzi motor back together I found up to 8 thou difference from front of piston to rear in deck heighth,I think I am good enough to put them in my big vice and put a pry bar tru piston pin and tweek it in the direction it needs to go,will report after I try the worst one,..or tell me this is totally crazy,Guzzi Mark

That is pretty much what the machine shop does, except they have a nice jig to hold the piston / rod assembly.

spent 3 hrs today truing the rods,couple I had do do three times to get under 3 thou,vice pry bar and luck got me where i wanted to be at,probably didnt really need to be done ,but I feel better,mark

I have never even thought of that! :shock:

I have measured a bunch of pistons in the hole and don't remember diffs of that much.
