What size, outside diameter is the filler vent tube for the gas tank in my 63 Valiant. PO decided he didn't want it, but I sure do. Can't seem to locate one locally so I think I will make my own. |

Should be able to bend-up your own out of steel brake line tubing. Pretty sure it's 1/4", but it could be 5/16". Make sure to follow the factory routing (out from the boot in the trunk floor, zagging steeply upwards along the left rear wheelwell, making a fairly tight U-turn and then back down along the wheelwell over to the fitting at the outboard end of the filler pipe). |

Did they design it that way to keep you from pouring gas all over the top of your tank if you screwed up refilling? Thanks for the help. |

Mainly to prevent a siphon effect. |

5/16 is the main fuel line size. On the non-emission setup the vent tube is much smaller than the main fuel line BYB - (to the garage with the calipers ....) The vent line measures 1/4 inch OD |
