What does it take to burn rubber?????

(Just thinking an automatic, since a clutch is easy to dump)

Install a line lock in the front brakes, and you can burn all the rubber you want.

a 73 duster that's be lightened by rust --------1 bbl a/t tranny would smokim' at will from a stop-- of course these were 75 series 14" tires

Heck, I thought the whole idea was to go as quick and as fast as possible WITHOUT burning rubber...

Get jetzon tires, they smoke after 1/2 a turn, and wear like iron, but they drive like it too

My very tired '69 2 barrel 225 (all stock) can easily burn both tires with a bit of help from the brake pedal.

My Duster won't spin the tires in a straight line but jerk the wheel real hard and it will sit there and smoke em'.

2.76 gears really take a bite out of the burnout ability.

with the old 2.76 I could smoke the passenger tire but not with the suregrip in either the 3.23 or 3.91. I am also running 235/60R14's, it takes a lot of power to spin 2 of them at once.

Remember the early 80's, when I and my friend in his Dart -69 made some fireburnouts and a couple of days later found a leak from the petroltank. Could had been a heck of a fireburnout.

Neutral drops (rev engine in neutral, drop it into first) burn rubber, and trannies too.

My 80 aspen finally learned how to smoke them (that's right, both tires) in the burn out box.

Here is a list of modifications, and it took every one before it would do it.

2bbl carb tuned to dump plenty of fuel on demand.
2 1/4 exhaust,
mild head port,
advanced the stock cam just a couple degrees (gives it better low end grunt),
2.94 sure grip rear end,
super short 195-60-15 rear tires,

I can't believe that Phil can't smoke with 3.91 gears ?? Even on wet pavement Phil? I know you've got lots more horsepower than me?

I'd say that rear end gears or a well selected high stall racing torque converter would get you a smoking machine in one easy shot. Cost, about $450. (plus installation)

Smoking out the parking lot at the local car hop..... priceless.

The 3.23 rear gear certainly helps, 2.76 is way too tall IMHO. I have driven 225's with 2.92 gears and that is as tall as I would want as the first gear ratio gets too much.

there is no problem to get 100 feet
of rubber with 4.56 gears.

and 150 shot of NOS !!!!

but the down side .........tires!!
