Any one on here running the diy megasquirt fuel injection controller. If so what kind of success or problems have you had????

I am considering buying one and turbocharging my slant 6 dart.

I have one. Originally ran it with GM tbi, now running mpfi. I have several thousand miles on it now. Idle quality is a bit shaky - not sure if thats megasquirts fault or due ot other things (likely other things / tuning), but other then that I'd say its a success.

I have two Darts running MS, one TBI, the other multi-point. It is a good idea to use the "search" function on this site before posting general questions. Try searching "megasquirt" and see what comes up, then ask specific questions.

Thanks and happy building,

Lou

I'm running one. Not on a slant, on a 360. It's been great - over a year and no problems. I've actually built 3 of the ECUs - each one worked the first time, a testament to the step-by-step instructions on the msefi.com site and the user community. No more carbs for me, ever.

Yes, they are very easy to build :D

I was very surprized when there were no more instructions, or parts...

If one doesn't feel comfortable with assembling it themselves you can go to www.diyautotune.com and a multitude of other places to buy one pre assembled even wth harnesses so the only thing you have to do is hookup sensors and injectors and pump. The extra cash assembled ones cost probably makes it worthwhile for someone without the patience or knowhow to follow the very clear instructions ;)

I got my kit there, and Jerry is very nice to deal with.

The little parts come in well marked bags, so assembly is: part#b6, go in location b6 on the board, and so on...

I used 7 hours assembling my kit, and I haven´t soldered electronics in years

If I was going to buy an other ms, I would get a kit again, and I am lazy

I want one of them new v3 boards with msII but not sure I want to plunk down more cash. Right now I'm running a v2.2 w/msI. Maybe I'll hold out for UMS.

dart270

I did search megasquirt and sent out a couple im's to the people that said they are running it in the threads that gave definative information.. but the threads/posts i read did not address my specific interests. also the search listed like 500 hits and of the first 20 to 40 or so i read had absolutely nothing to do with it? just vague comments like check into megasquirt.. i could not narrow the search any narrower than megasquirt. I didnt have time to read 2000 pages of stuff to get 3 paragraphs of useful info. I thought gathering the people that definatley ran the system into one thread would be more time effective for me. .

my ultimate goal is a port fuel injected turbocharged slant 6. was just curious how much success or failure there was in that arena. not wanting to duplicate someone elses mistakes i guess.

so from those of you running it if you wanted to do what i am wanting you would still buy this system over the other systems on the market haltech / simple digital / weber and so on?

I just listed what i did before i posted that thread. anyways when I was typing it sounded right in my head and after it was posted and i read it on the screen it sounds wrong. . sorry again no ill will or disrespect intended if it was perceived that way. I guess i need to proof read more before i hit the submit button . i had this problem the other day on a different thread it just sounded all wrong when i read it.

sincerely I mean no disrespect

thanks duke

I have a Megasquirt installation in progress. Soldering the ECU together required about 8 hours, and if I were buying a new one, I'd go with the new V3 kit. That one can read a Mopar electronic distributor directly, something the V2.2 board I have can't do.

The installation has been taking a long time. I've got most of the wiring in place now; now I have to get a fuel system in place. I'm going to try and put the fuel lines under the car today, in fact - then I need to rig up a return line, my combination fuel filter / surge tank, and add a high pressure pump to supliment my existing low pressure one.

My blog has a lot of details on the installation.

I would like to get back to the idea of finding off-the-shelf components to build up a TBI system. I am currently looking for a Ford EEC IV with the FA chip to see if I can get something going. This computer powered a CFI (Central Fuel Injection) 3.8L engine, so the built-in tables should be great for a 225. I could use some help in locating these too. They came in late 80's to early 90's Mustangs, LTDs and T-Birds with the 3.8L engine.

What are you going to use for the fuel pump? I haven't found anything usefull at the local parts store yet. I'm also not sure how much pressure I need.
