hey folks
I have been blessed with a 3.31 8 1/4 minty rear axle. it has been used less than 1k mile since the previous owner swapped it for a higer ratio (he used to do a lot of towing and he used 3.9somethings)
unit is empty, clean and rust free. It has the shafts installed, all assembled but greaseless. Procedures to swap it in??

Unbolt, and remove old axle, insert new axle, and bolt it on.
Fill with oil...
bleed brakes, and enjoy

Shouldn´t be anything special about it? Except, is it the same style axle you have in it now?(or you may have to shorten, or extend the driveshaft?)

to change your speedo gear to match the new ratio...

a) shorten or lenghten is outta the picture since its a almost NOS replacement for my car. Came with one like mine but the previous owner wanted a 3.53 and swapped it out. He washed this axle in oil and here I go like 30 years later having found this and a owner who told me that piece of crap? yours if you can carry it" It has the original paint and paper decals on the cover... heheh. The only "hard part" about this axle it has been getting it in my backseat all alone.... gosh that mutter is heavy.

b) speedo gear: I already have some issues with my speedo.... it's undercheating speed, so I guess that a taller rear end would cure it (or at least when i'm goin 55 I wouldn't be going 75... hehe.)
